Rendering Option just starts PLAY

Coming again to the final stage of a three segment join up project I notice, that after adding a title and also Markers, when I press the Render option the project just starts playing rather than rendering.
The segments, .mov's, were imported into a new Pre12 project and all worked on the Timeline. One other observation is that one of the three segments does not have an orange or green line above it. Would this be why it does not render? The playing of this section seems equal to the others. Any ideas where I am going wrong as I like to render before I burn, although I think the project is rendered just before the burn.

In Expert view, do you see a yellow orange line along the top of the timeline? Your timeline may not need to render.

By default the program will play your movie right after it renders -- so, if you have nothing to render, it just plays your movie.

You can change this in the Preferences, under the Edit menu on a PC.

Hi Steve, that sounds absolutely right and as I said the quality, of the segment, seems fine. Yes, it was in Expert view, and as you say this is either orange or green. Just with me I have a segment with nothing. I thought it might be the Theme that altered the entire setting. Will leave it like that and will see what happens on my next project.
