Pre 12 and DualScreen - no "Show Docking Headers"

Postby hasso » Thu Feb 06, 2014 10:20 am

Hello all,

I recently bought (blind) Pre12 since I needed the AVCHD handling and Blueray Output.
Now with my old PRe9 I had the video on a high quality truecolor monitor and the timeline with the effects on the main monitor.
Pre12 does not allow that anymore. There is an Option "Dual Monitor Workspace", but it makes only the timeline floating. I am missing the "Show Docking Headers" from PRE9.

Do I miss something or is this Feature from PRE9 being removed in PRE12?

Thank you

You're not missing anything. In Adobe's redesign, they decided that the only option for dual-monitor support would be that the Timeline could be made a floating window.

hmm ... pity it is. As I dive deeper into editing I find this descision not good. Maybe Adobe shifts Pre away from the semi pro approach towards easy entry.

So I tried Lightworks partially because I wanted to have multicam Edit. Its quite a hassle with importing the material in a compatible way though compared to the pre comfort. But once imported the actual editing itself is better for my demands. Learning curve is steep though.
Considering one buys every year the new Pre Version - Lightworks cost about the same and might be a alternative.

I wish Adobe had something for semi pro Editors in between Pre and Premiere.
