Postby MP#$864zz » Tue Oct 11, 2016 10:46 pm

HI

I have Steve's Book and have viewed his tutorials on Premiere Elements 11.

I made a short Video 5 Minutes tried to Burn to Blank DVD.

The DVD seemed to Burn OK.

The DVD would not Play.

ERROR MESSAGE After trying to Play to Play the Burned DVD

This DVD was created using Adobe Premiere Elements, portions of which utilize AuthorScript® under license from Sonic Solutions.

The files that describe the contents of this disc ("descriptive files"), which are recorded on this disc in the OpenDVD directory, contain proprietary and/or copyrighted material of Sonic Solutions. Please note that these files are protected by technological measures designed to prevent unauthorized access to them and are subject to the terms of the ~application~  Software License Agreement, including, without limitation, the restriction against modification in Section 4.2.

after Checking Google it said I needed AuthorScript.dll and to D L it from Adobe Web Site.

Search Adobe web site and found no reference to AuthorScript .

Thanks for any Help on this Problem.

Welcome to Muvipix.

How are you trying to play the DVD?

You shouldn't get that message unless you are trying to access the opendvd directory instead of the VIDEO_TS directory. The opendvd directory is ignored by all DVD and blu-ray players. It is also ignored by most pc software DVD players. The only folder that matters is the VIDEO_TS folder.

The opendvd folder is created by the DVD authoring library that Adobe is licensing. It can be safely deleted.

Edit: Just to be clear, you don't need AuthorScript.dll to play the DVD. Do not download that file from the Internet. It is already included in Premiere Elements and is used only to create (author) the dvd.

Hi

Thanks for the Fast Reply.

I am very new to this. I was using Win 10.

I just hit Burn in the Editing program.

Does Premiere Elements have a Built in burning software ?

Or did it trigger the Win 10 Burning Program ?

After the DVD was burned I just Left the disk in the DVD Drive.

Then I hit play, I thought it was playing using Widows Media Player

when I got the ERROR Message instead.

It would not play in a Stand alone DVD Player but would play on VLC Media Player.

Thank Very Much for Your Help Fred

That said, Premiere Elements includes tools for creating your DVD menus, adding chapter markers and burning your DVD. So I assume you used Publish & Share/Disc/DVD to burn your DVD -- and it sounds like it successfully did so. The fact that it plays with VLC Media Player confirms that. (Disregard Windows Media Player's error. It's a pretty mediocre media player, and I'd recommend setting VLC is my default player for all media.)

There are a number of reasons that disc will play on your computer but not in your DVD player. (Again, we're assuming you used Publish & Share/Disc/DVD to burn your disc.) You may be using poor quality DVDs. (Memorex are notoriously buggy.) Your DVD player may not like home-burned DVDs (which use a different process to burn to a disc than commercial discs). Or you may not have gotten a good quality burn.

I recommend using a multi-step process for creating your discs so that you can see where (if) something is going wrong.
1) Use Publish & Share/Disc/DVD -- but select the option to burn to a Folder on your hard drive rather than directly to a disc. You can even test drive the files it creates by dragging the VIDEO_TS folder from this directory onto your VLC Media Player.
2) Use a program like ImgBurn (a free download) to burn this VIDEO_TS folder to a DVD -- and, when you do, select the option to Verify the disc after the burn. This is the best possible way to ensure a good disc burn.

We have a free tutorial that shows you how to download and use ImgBurn. Just a warning about the program: It can install additional programs onto your computer, so watch the tutorial for instructions in avoiding this bloatware. (In fact, some antivirus programs may even think ImgBurn is malware -- but it's not.) Follow the instructions in the tutorial and you'll have an invaluable utility for your computer.

Each tutorial is about 5 minutes long, so they go into as much detail as you can in 5 minutes. However, there are over 40 tutorials, so the course is pretty thorough.
