Specific to Premiere Elements Version 11.

I know this option is probably frowned upon by most people who have joined Muvipix because it practically does all of the work for you. But my computer is still in for repairs and I am looking for a quick fix to finish a wedding video before we leave for the wedding in Mexico! So I am trying to complete a section on my office laptop using Instant Movie for the first time. I guess my question is "Is Instant Movie very demanding on a computer?" because I am getting black segments periodically (as well as on the render line), and there is a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark at the bottom left of the timeline with different comments each time I try to use a Instant Movie theme.
Hopefully, my work laptop (of course, not designed to do complicated video work - but does handle some Premiere Elements projects for work that I use on You Tube) just can't handle what needs to be imported and I will be able to use this feature as a quick fix once I get my real computer back.
Also, I am using old photos rather than video, and the project changes the order instead of leaving them in the order I have. Can I fix that? Date/time is not how I have them ordered, nor is the photo number something I can use.

Videolady I use Instant Movie quite often. I think it gives me a good start if I'm in a hurry. project changes the order instead of leaving them in the order I have You have a choice, see picture Capture.JPG The Instant Movie can be taxing on your computer, it uses a lot of effects. You have the option to scale back by moving the Speed and Intensity slider to the left. Once your movie has been created, you can right click on the video in the time line and choose Break apart movie from the options menu (you have to scroll all the way to the bottom) and customize to you liking.

Further into using Instant Movie, I changed the otion to lesser effects but got some areas with black background. Is that why?

Could you specify that a little more, I'm not sure what you mean with areas with black background. Maybe you could post a screen shot. You don't get that with more effects added? Which theme are you using? Maybe I can try it out and see what happens.

I am not sure how to take or send a screen shot (pitiful isn't it?). I am using the Baby Clouds Instant Movie and I lessened the effects a notch and then some photos do not have any background from the movie applied to them. The ones without any effects on them are on the 1st video track in the timeline too.
I set it to my own music piece if that matters.

See, another reason the upgrade to Win7 You get the Sniping Tool, which makes taking a screen shot a breeze! But here are instructions: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-xp/help/setup/take-a-screen-shotAs to post your shot here: Look to the bottom of the reply window, under the Submit button, you see 2 blue tabs > Options > Upload attachment. Click on Upload attachment. > Browse ( you can select your screen shot from where ever you saved it on your computer, hopefully the desktop) > Add the file After your file is uploaded, click on Place in line and your pic is placed where the curser is currently positioned.

OK Videolady, I used the Baby Clouds Theme with some random pictures and I get black too. Is this what you were referring to? Capture.JPG This has nothing to do with the number of effects applied or any computer problems. This is simply caused by pictures in portrait format when the theme is expecting landscape format. What you have to do is to either uncheck Scale to frame for those pictures or crop them to fit the landscape format. Or.... move your instant movie to video track 2 and place a background picture on video track 1 as I did with the green background here: Capture2.JPG

i was trying to follow your instructions for capturing my screen when I saw your reply above. Yes, that is what I meant and it is great to know why it is happening. The background idea will work perfectly. I always avoided Instant Movie but now I see how it helps in a pinch and I learn so much abotu effects when I break it apart and see the details!
THX!!!!

Exactly, that is one other reason I like the Instant Movie feature a lot.
