Songs Won't Import - The importer reported a generic error

Postby videolady » Thu Sep 19, 2013 5:13 pm

I had my computer hard drive increased, a new Asus 210 Silent video card installed and major virus software removed recently. I uninstalled all iTunes components (per website) and reinstalled iTunes.

I have a baby crying sound effect in a video that I was working on when my computer needed repairs. I played it a few times last night and the sound was there but today, I got this error. That's when I saw I didn't have QuickTime so I reinstalled that and checked for updates but I still get the Error Message of a generic error when importing sound.

I tried other songs and get the same error message. Why did it play after the repairs but suddenly not play and how can I fix this so I can continue my video project?

Further to this, it seems to be any files I try to import through QuickTime that give this error - even older background files I downloaded from MuviPix. I have version 7.74.80.86

It seems to be working this morning. Maybe it needed another reboot? (I thought I did that yesterday.) Hope I didn't waste anyone's time here. :(
