Recording narration

Postby Doug Valdez » Thu May 30, 2013 7:40 am

I am trying to add narration to my first video and have a problem. My program is not seeing my microphone. I am using a wireless lav mic plugged into my computer mic jack via mini plug. I don't get any options to select mics from the drop down menu on the narration screen? I reviewed the elements 11 tutorial to check for a solution there. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

My preference, when making narrations, is to use Audacity. Then I can (if appropriate) cut the audio into sections and paste those sections in the right place on an audio track. You can get Audacity here:-

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows

I make the narration recording whilst watching the video play (having lowered the volume of any video soundtrack(s)).

Meantime, Doug, go to your computer's Control Panel and make sure your computer is configured to make that mike your default recording device. And then click on the little microphone icon on the Premiere Elements' Narration panel and make sure that that input is selected.
