No drivers to install but I'd connect it to the computer and turn it on before installing the utility. No need to have the VCR connected at that point, but it certainly wouldn't do any harm.

Hi, I haven't read through the entire thread, but I have the 300 as well as the CD. If you need anything you can contact me via email at "jjccl AT aol DOT com" since I'm not usually passing by this website as much as I have been. ( not doing too much vhs to dvd stuff these days) :)

The picture controller software is an alternative to the dipswitch ability on the 300. Not sure why anyone would want to deal with that way of changing settings though.
