Creating 1st Baby Girl's 1st Birthday Video

Postby ddutta » Tue Dec 08, 2020 2:02 pm

Background Information:
I am a beginner in video making. I am planning to make a video of my granddaughter to be shown during her 1st birthday (March 6, 2021). The video will consist of a story focusing on the baby, her parents and occasionally extended family members. I do have lots of photos and video clips organized in a chronological order from pregnancy revelation to the present time and ongoing.
Seeking Suggestions:
I am looking for the ideas as to how to present the story in a genial way.
Also looking for suggestion as to where I can get video motions relating to and covering the story.
Will appreciate your suggestions.
Best,
Dipen

I don't mean to sound like a smart aleck, but isn't the best source for pictures and video your own collection of pictures and video?

The are templates out there for adding effects and creating video stories about babies, but really it's your own personal collection that will really mean something with your audience. Why not let those pictures and videos really tell your story!

Beyond that, every video editor has some storytelling features and templates. Which video editor are you using? You could already have the tools to create a great video.

You could create a page turn project that would look like you are opening a family photo albem and make the photos come to life as videos.
Combine page turns with dissolves or other transitions between videos and/or stills.

Have a look here:

"I am sorry if I was not clear enough. As I mentioned I have all the material (videos/photos) for the project. Also, I have created a draft plan regarding the presentation of the story. I really wanted know and see if others have created a presentation relating to baby's 1st BD which will be helpful for me.
Again, I like to mention that I am a beginner in video editing and like to learn more. Al this time I make my videos using iMovie.
Thank you for providing the helpful information.

Your use of iMovie may limit your options for templates, Dipen. I'm not sure how many iMovie editors are part of our community.

From the apple support page:

In the iMovie app on your Mac, click Settings in the upper-right corner of the timeline, and then click the Theme button. In the Change Theme window, do one of the following: Choose a theme: Select a theme, and click Change. To preview a theme, move the pointer over the theme's thumbnail and click the Play button

I do not use iMovie so sorry I could not be of more help.

Dipen,
I don't use iMovie much.
I can create a new project but it will be using sport material and 'bits & bobs' from the Muvipix library.
It will be a mash up but I will describe my steps to creating a 'first opus'.
I need time to assemble the content an 'write a story'.
Would this help?

Dipen,

Here are the notes on adding a Theme within iMovie.
The video I created is a bit of a 'mash up' and not fit for public viewing.
If you follow the steps you should make a great first movie.
