Adding audio file to video file

Postby dmgwalsh » Sun May 11, 2014 6:47 am

I need to add an audio file to a video file to eventually turn it into a dvd.

The problem is the audio file is a commentary on a pool match and the audio needs to be in sync with the action on the video to make sense. The person who did the 2 1/2 audio file opened with 34 seconds of an intro before he gets in sync with the video. I have used avs video editor and I can put the two files together, but I can't figure out how to get the audio file to go for 34 seconds before the video kicks in.

Can anyone tell me how I can do that ?

It depends on which program you're using to edit. With AVS's video editor, I'm not sure. Does it allow you to edit the video track and audio track separately?

Basically, if you want the audio to begin before the video, you just slide the video farther down the timeline so that it sits above the audio, where you'd like it to begin.

Meantime, what do you plan to show visually while the audio is playing, before the video begins? You don't really want a blank screen, do you?

What program might it work in?

I tried just putting a picture in there. Then I was going to add some title text. But it did not work yet.

Premiere Elements, Sony Movie Studio, CyberLink PowerDirector and virtually any professional editor. In fact, any editor that allows you more than one track of editing.

DVD Architect is a disc authoring program, not a video editor.

I know nothing about AVS Video Editor, and I'm not sure anyone else in the Muvipix community does either -- but we can leave this topic open and see if anyone responds.
