What are the standard video sizes for PAL systems

Postby MGadAllah » Sun Sep 25, 2011 4:28 am

The original .MPG file I am recording is a 720x576 screen size

I am converting the file to 2 formats:-
1) .avi with a good or acceptable quality.
2) .rm/.rmvb with a mendium quality.

The .avi file size is in a 640x480.

But my problem is the .rm, .rmvb as I do not know what should be the right screen size, so I've googled and found those figures (480x320 | 480x360/368
320 x 240) , so I've asked your opinion for the right ones to be used.

The .avi is for those who have a good connection speed, but we still have a lot of people with a slow connection with 512 kbs speed so the .RM, .RMVB is important also.

So I hope that I've explained it the right way.

Particularly for those who may have slower internet connections, you should create any video that is to be posted on the Web at 320x240 (square pixels) and 512 Kbps. Video at that size and rate should play smoothly on pretty much any internet connection.

So no need to go any higher then 320x240, like 480x320 or 480x360 or anything else?

It depends on how good the internet connections are for the people you will be sharing this video with. 320x240 will work on almost any connection. You can use a larger frame if your internet can support it.

By the way, if you are working with widescreen video, you should use 427x240 (square pixels) as your video size.

I'm not sure where to direct you to, Mohamed. Those specifications are based on my experience with internet-based video. Most video programs that create video for the internet use those video specifications.

Other people may have different suggestions.

Thanks a lot my friends,
I've an idea and would like to know your opinion about it.
I am using the aspect ration of 3:4
So why not to make it 300x400 standard size for the .RM?
Will it be good enough or what do you think?
