Best Drum Beat and percussion song for the Stones was Honkytonk Woman, lots of cowbell and a classic drum beat !!

That was fun. Was that a cello he had slung over his shoulder like a guitar? Never saw that before.

Yes, that is a cello. Even the smallest upright bass is larger than that. Haven't seen one used that way before either. Works though. In string ensembles, the cello serves the role of the bass instrument. FYI, an upright bass is also called a double bass because in early orchestras, the bass would "double" the cello part by playing the same notes but an octave lower. I'm a bass player. :)

Well that was interesting; learned something new about you, Bob. What kind of venue/music do you play in? I played violin from 4th grade through high school and then abandoned it. I enjoyed my time in orchestra, but the reality was that I was only average in talent. Played second violin, first chair.

I have a strong classical and jazz background. Besides school orchestra, I learned Sousaphone to be in the marching band and Tuba for concert band. I was the recipient of the John Philip Sousa Award. In college, I was in the Marching Band and the Symphonic Band/Wind Ensemble where I played 1st chair Tuba. I owned my own upright bass and played in several jazz combos for paid gigs. I also played concerts on occasion with local community orchestras when they needed an extra bass or a substitute for a regular member who was ill. I had to scale back on playing after I had children and osteoarthritis in my hands stopped it entirely. I still have my instrument -- too many good memories, I don't want to sell it yet.

That's probably much more information than you wanted.

Not TMI at all Bob. Very interesting. Although music has been a very important part of my life, I had to come to terms with the fact that I don’t have much natural talent. You obviously do. Thanks for sharing.

That is so great Bob, congrats on your accomplishements. I was in concert band and marching band in high school, many great memories. We played in competitions all over the country and placed 1st many times. I was in percussion and played drums for many years, now I am trying to become proficient on the acoustic and electric guitar for fun and to play in church.
