Famous Relative

Postby Chuck Engels » Tue Jul 14, 2009 2:34 pm

This is kind of an interesting story. As David Letterman might say, A Brush With Greatness.

My dad had a 1/2 sister (both had the same mother, different fathers) and her name was Betty Goracke.
We always knew that she did stunt work in Hollywood but never got to meet her or heard much about her really.
I remember my dad getting an envelope from her in the mail once, it was full of autographed photos of Hollywood stars.
John Wayne, Sylvester Stallone, Christopher Reeves, and at least a dozen others.

Well we just found out recently that her stage name was Pepper Curtis and sure enough she has a IMDB page :)
http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0991321/

I also found out that she was in a couple episodes of The Untouchables in 1961.
Kind of cool to know, now I have to find some of these shows on DVD :)

That is interesting! And closer than the 6 degrees of K Bacon. :)

Actually, according to http://oracleofbacon.org/ , Pepper Curtis is only two degrees from Kevin Bacon.

Pepper was in a Perry Mason episode with Malachi Throne -- who was on Search for Tomorrow with Kevin Bacon!

Not to stick a pin in the balloon, but...

If you click "More" next to her Date of Birth on the IMDB page, it says her birth name was

"Elizabeth Jo Marcus"

That was her married name Bobby, actually her 2nd or 3rd marriage.
If I can ever get in touch with the IMDB people I have a picture for them as well.

Turns out that my oldest sister did get to spend some time with her in the late 70's when I was in the Army.

Well she was an actress first, in the 60's mostly. The stunt part came in the 70's, guess she could work more that way.
I really want to find some of the shows she was in on DVD, they would really be nice to see.
