Have XVGA card. Read Wiki & Manuals.
1. What is the optimal resolution setting for PE3 & PSE5?
2. If you import/capture at a lower resolution, consequence at burning/exporting at a higher resolution?
3. Do you need to be consistant with the settings on one project?

Hi Cheryl,
Monitor resolution as nothing to do with image resolution for one thing
I have mine set to 1680 x 1050 (this is a widescreen setting) on my computer at work (laptop with 20" widescreen LCD external monitor).
at home I use dual monitors set to 1280 x 1024, I think that is the best resolution for most people. You definately need to be at least set to
1024 x 768.
You can change monitor resolution in the middle of a project, every other day, or whenever you want. It doesn't have anything to do with the programs, just how things look on the screen.
Steve works with graphics all day long, I wonder what his monitor resolution is?

Thanks. You explain things so well. I had mine set at 1024x768. I reread 'snap' page 98 and that explained if you want to zoom in on a still in PE3 what you have to do in PS5 first.
From my understanding, to place a still in PE3 there is no need to change the pixels that PE3 renders the graphics. (Unless you want to zoom in on the still)?
Does a Photoshop Elements 5 in a Snap exist?
I think I need to throw out PE for Dummies book since it is based on version 1. The 'snap' is easier to read.

Thanks for the book referrals. If I get the last one listed, can I get it autographed? That would make a good Muvipix prize!

Cheryl,
If you do consider the In a Classroom Book, then you might consider instead the combined Photoshop and Premiere Elements book.
Photoshop and Premiere Elements
If you are only buying one Premiere Elements book, then definitely Chuck and Steve's book is the best choice.
With limited experience in video editing, I did find benefits in also having the combined In the Classroom book. So IF you consider the In a Classroom book, I do suggest the combined PSE5-PRE3 book at $37.80 on Amazon: PSE only is $25.19 at Amazon. However, I realize that the multiple book purchases can get expensive.
