GoPro Swallowed By Lava and Survives

Postby Dave McElderry » Mon Jul 18, 2022 1:28 pm

"A camera was swallowed by lava, survived and recorded the entire thing....
Back in 2017 Erik Storm, of Kilauea EcoGuides, a tour group based in the Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, managed to lose his GoPro camera in a crevice that was slowly filling with lava. GoPro's are touted as being indestructible, but nobody could have predicted that a tiny bit of technology would be able to withstand the 1,000°C heat of lava."

It is hard to imagine the plastic did not melt and destroy the camera. I bet it is the first and last time he does that with a camera. :ha:

Yeah, it almost seems like too much to believe, but the article appears to be legit.

Unless they had it in some specialized case I would think the camera would melt for sure.
