I actually took a day off work yesterday, first in a while, although we lost all external web sites the day before

I hiked Catoctin Mountain trail, which is basically a series of ridges. It's interesting that the rock formations were part of the ocean bead about 500 million years ago.

I took my old TLR camera, and somehow messed up and lost two frames, also looks like I didn't get the exposure right on a handful. Oh well, the joy of with working with 60 year old cameras.

This is from my phone, but it looks like I got a good image from the medium format camera. I'll scan tonight. Wolf Rock is cool, I've been going there since high school. I was little worried this time that I may not make it without breaking bones.

That is so cool, John. I've never seen the developing process for those old photos. They look awesome.

Liked the image of Wolf Rock.

There is a rock formation in the UK Lake District that is interesting. Below is a link to Andy Beck's website where you can view a very clear photo of the formation known as Sphinx Rock.

That's cool John, looks like and old man's face. Interesting how our brains patterns from random nature.

Usually when people see people or creatures in rock formations it's a stretch for me, but this one is amazing. Truly does look like a wolf.

I can relate to that. I'm in the same league.

Hmmm...don't know about the Sphinx, but I could imagine native American features. Very chiseled looking. All in the eye of the beholder, I guess.

I agree about the native American features but they decided to call it the Sphynx Rock. Don't know why. Others call it 'The Guardian' as it seems to loom over the valley which runs towards Ennerdale Water. It is located on Great Gable, one of the mountains in the Lake District.

'Face pareidolia' – the phenomenon of seeing faces in everyday objects – is a very human condition that relates to how our brains are wired
