Caller ID

Postby Paz_Pazzaz » Thu Jul 09, 2020 2:29 pm

My CALLER ID

said that I

was calling

ME.

I answered the phone

but I wasn't there.

Reminded me of

"The Man on the Stair."

I called myself

again today.

I wish that I

would go away.

Okay, here's a kind of unrelated story but your story made me think of it.

One day about 6 years ago my adult daughter was having a particularly trying day. And, when I picked up the mail from the mailbox, I found a letter in it addressed to her -- with her name and our address on the return address!

Sarah opened it and it did indeed contain a letter, written in Sarah's own hand, reminding her that she was beautiful and that life was worth living. And it was signed by her, though at first Sarah didn't remember writing it!

Later that night she remembered a college assignment she'd had several years earlier. The professor asked each student to write an encouraging letter to their future self and place it in a self-addressed envelope. They could write something very personal and seal it in the envelope if they'd prefer.

This professor would then hold onto these letters for years and then, as she felt inspired, she'd mail each off. Long forgotten, these letters would often arrive at a time their message was needed most.

Sarah's certainly did.
