PowerToys is back

Postby Chris B » Sat Apr 04, 2020 3:56 am

Microsoft have released a new set of Powertoys inspired by those originally released for Windows 95 and later Windows XP. As with so much software these days it's still at the beta stage with expectation to release version 1 around September. Available from here:

Tools include a new task switcher, window layout manager, bulk rename and an image resizer with many custom options.

Too bad it doesn't include a modern version of Windows MovieMaker!

There is a movie maker in Windows 10. Do a search for Video Editor. I can't remember the old movie maker, so I can't compare them.

Yes - it's part of the "photos" app (click the new video button at the top). It's been there for a while although it has changed significantly. I had a quick play around today (not done so for a while) and it seems to be of the modern generation. I can't find transitions of any description and there's no visibility of levels or keyframing and the like. It does however have a number of prebuilt "filters" and the options to add 3d elements to the scene (foreworks, confetti etc.) For a quick editor to put a few scenes together, trim them and add a couple of titles or effects it will do the job. I recall that the automated slideshow tools are quite neat.
