Something definitely worth thinking about, Sidd.

I don't know what's happening in other towns but here the nightly news consists of a lot of interviews with local official via Skype. It's hilarious to watch these people fumble with it! Even if they can get the sound working, they end up with their laptops tilted way back so that it only shows the tops of their heads and sometimes even the ceiling.

That laptop tilt problem is occurring with Zoom also. Can't the user see their self and correct the tilt?

Picking up on the use of soft lights in the video tutorial - thanks Sidd.

Get;
2 x AC extension leads
1 x table light
1 x neon night light (or low wattage bulb)

Connect the leads together with the switched one first.
Place the switched sockets close to your computer work area
Insert the neon light in a switched socket
place the table lamp outside your work room (connected to the extension lead)

When making a video call (phone call etc.) switch on both lights.
The neon light will remind you that the "DO NOT ENTER" light is on.

The neon light should not affect the light levels from the soft lamps.

If you have a red bulb even better.

Keep safe.

I think they probably can see themselves - and everything they have in the background and don't want to display the content of their house/office to the world. Tilting upwards shows the top of the wall/ceiling which is often clearer.

Thanks Chris,

I think I found another answer too...Some of our church members are using their phone, using Zoom, and I suspect that they are lying it down on the table in front of them. So it is aiming at the ceiling and their foreheads. I don't use a phone for Zoom conferences but if it is used for that the case that I purchased has a little stand device that I can pull out to properly use it in a Zoom conference if desired.

Not sure if this would help but zoom allows you to keep the camera on your face and add your own background. to do this:

Change the default background image
Log in to the Zoom web portal.
Click Room Management > Zoom Rooms.
Click Account Settings at the top of the page.
In the Account Profile tab, under Background image for Zoom Rooms, click Upload New Image. ...
Select your image and click Open.

You can search the internet for backgrounds you like. The file extension is a .webp type of file. This site has a few to download

Sidd, that Zoom background setting just puts a static image on the screen. And some of our church members do use that but we never see their real face during the meeting.
