Zoom button vs. zoom in videoeditor

Postby Matthew Max » Tue Feb 04, 2020 3:05 pm

I shot some terrific footage in Cozumel last week with my new GoPro 8 (thanks to advice from Steve and Sidd), and now I want to know one thing: Is the quality of footage that I shoot in zoom mode any different than digitally zooming in with my video editor? Somebody's gonna get a big sloppy kiss for answering this one correctly.

No thank you on the kiss.

But, digital zoom is digital zoom. The only slight difference might be that because the zoom is built into the camera it might have some logic to make a better adjustment.

Depending on how you recorded the footage I have done things like record in 4k then use that footage in a 1080p project. That way you can get some closer footage.
