Well besides the obvious loud groan..... First and foremost would their parents approve of them re-arraigning the living room. Doing this could really be the catalyst for mom and day to finally get the nerve up to ask them to please move out of the house.... :hyst:

Is it that hard to turn your phone 90 degrees?!

Now, when they start building tall, narrow movie screens I'll really lose it.

What would be cool is if you could string 3 TV's together vertically to display TV in an array...

Even at 83 years old Ron Popiel is thinking he could make a gadget to turn a regular tv sideways....

Clearly to some folk it really is too hard to understand that holding the phone vertically to record video is not a good idea.

Maybe a better technical solution would be to have the phone always record the video horizontally regardless of the physical device's actual orientation. :(

Exactly. We have family members in the 50 y/o range who send videos taken vertically, so it's not just a millennial thing though. I said something about it once and they still do it, so now I just bite my tongue. I guess I'm not the driving influence that I had thought I was. :hyst:

Yep, we need to have protections like this in place to save people from themselves. I'm with ya, John! Now excuse me, I've got to go to my weekly Control Freaks Anonymous meeting.

I think what is needed to cure this ailment is a super slick advertisement from Apple in the vein of their "Shot on an iPhone" adds... Only call it "Here's What You Missed" and show cool shots only captured horizontally that show something interesting that would have been missed.

My quick arithmetic gives about 31% of the available image is captured in vertical mode so that could be a good idea Sidd.

I'm off to meet Dave now. In my role as Chairman of the Control Freaks Anonymous group we are tonight discussing a compulsory one week duration boot camp to "educate" people that haven't yet understood how to take video in horizontal mode. ;)
