It's time to prewrite 2019 on the first 20 checks before you write any in the new year. :-D

First 20 checks... ?!

Last year, I don't think I wrote any. Probably the year before that too. Can't go cashless yet -- I still encounter venues that are cash only. Other than that, I'm all electronic. Thanks to my phone, I seldom need to carry physical credit/debit cards either.

It's a whole new world.

Happy New Year!!

Many of the companies that my business purchases from charge a percentage to pay a statement by credit card, but will accept a faxed or emailed check without a service charge.

I probably wrote 20 checks last year total, been the same for about 4 years straight. Electric bill and water bill still paid by check because I won't pay their fee to pay online. I think companies should give you a credit or something for paying online and not with a check, and also if you change to paperless statements. Those things in the long run save that company money.

Happy New Year everyone! I know I wrote fewer than 5 checks last year. Along the same vein re service charges, the IRS charges a fee to file electronically but accepts my mess of paperwork with no additional fee. That just seems ridiculous.

Guess I'm still stuck in the dark ages. I must have written 100's of checks last year. I always pay for groceries by check. Everyone in front of me at the grocery check-out line pay with their Oregon food stamp card. :)

Wow  - Over here in the UK you generally get a discount for "going paperless". Most regular payments I make are via Direct Debit (automated bank transfer) so it's not even a card payment - again often with a discount for doing that. I haven't written a cheque in years and many retailers won't take them any more - All the national grocery stores stopped taking them 10 years ago.
