Can you help me find a cable?

Talk about anything here.

Can you help me find a cable?

Postby Peru » Tue Jul 03, 2018 3:28 pm

I am looking for an eSATA male X eSATA female cord to use as an extension for an eSATA cable.
All I can seem to find is SATA X eSATA.

No, I can't use a longer cable. The eSATA connection is on the back of the computer and I want to be able to disconnect it from the front.

To answer the question that is now in your mind:
I am using a 4 bay external hard drive dock that connects either eSATA or USB. If I use USB, it will allow me to see all 4 drives in My Computer and in Disk Management. If I use eSATA, it will only allow use of one drive at a time.
This is the dock:

I only have one USB port available and don't want to use a hub. I intend to use the USB connection when I need all drives and use the eSATA port when I need the USB port for a flash drive.

Yes, I know, it is an odd situation, but sometimes I do odd things. ;)

You mean like this one?

Or you could think outside of the box and move the eSATA port to the front of the PC.

Or if you're doing that - add some more USB ports and firewire there as well - lots of options ;)

Yes! :yh: I've spent two days searching Newegg and did not find that. Thank you.

Good ideas, but there is no room for expansion in this computer. It's actually a temporary solution to replace a more powerful computer that I had to remove from service.

The order was canceled by Newegg because the item was no longer available. :pull:

So I spent an hour googling again and found the same product at a higher price from a different Newegg Marketplace seller:https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAE7R5XK4772&ignorebbr=1

I ordered it and am waiting to see if that will get cancelled, too.

Alternatively, I can buy it directly from the manufacturer in China, but it is a minimum order of 500.
Does anybody need 499 of them? :fg:

All I can say is.... Sure hope I never need one of those !! Unless of course you order 500 of them, then I will know where to find one :TU:

Maybe you should be buy the 500 and sell them on eBay :)

Well, the other, more expensive, cable I found on Newegg is apparently available, as they charged me for it and haven't cancelled it. :- Yet. [-o<
