8mm film Conversion

Postby Chuck Engels » Mon Jan 08, 2018 12:55 pm

I know that some of you out there have had 16 and 8 mm film converted to digital format and/or DVD. Someone I know needs to have about 10 reels of film converted, any recommendations?

The online companies that do it are a bit expensive but I am guessing pretty good quality.

For mine I hunted around for and found an old 8mm projector and while I projected the movie on a screen I took my camcorder and recorded what was being projected. I had to mess around with the frame rate settings so I would not get the rolling shutter.

It is a bit of an arduous task.

Thanks Sidd, that's why there are companies that do the work. I know it is possible to capture a frame at a time and that is probably the best way. I don't want to do the work and I don't think the person with the film can do it either. Hoping someone has a recommendation for one of the companies out there.
