Vijaya TrueType Font

Postby Dave McElderry » Thu Dec 08, 2016 10:14 am

Apparently when I went from Win 7 to Win 10 my Vijaya TrueType font was uninstalled. From what I've seen it was included in Microsoft fonts through Win 8. I've been looking for it on font websites with no luck. When I do think I've found it, Norton tells me that the site or download is not safe. Anyone have a safe source?

Is it possible to go to the old computer and just copy the font from the fonts folder then paste in win10 font folder??

From this page, it appears to have been a part of Windows 7 and 8 installations -- and can be purchased from Microsoft. Though it's not cheap.

Just out of curiosity, why are you using vijaya? It was designed for using the Tamil language in Windows user interfaces. It does include Latin glyphs, but that isn't its primary purpose. If you are using it for the Latin glyphs, you could probably find something close in a more conventional old style serif font.

Same computer. It disappeared after the upgrade.

Yes, included in Win 7 and Win 8 as I noted. It disappeared when I upgraded to Win 10. With all the free fonts out there I'm not likely to pay for any font. I can usually find free versions of almost any font but not having any luck on this particular one.

I was using it for a graphic that I created in Photoshop Elements. I was just using it for the text. If I can't find it I'll substitute. Not worth spending a lot of time for. I just thought maybe someone had a source off the top of their head.

Just ran a search on my C drive. Looks like I have it in both regular and bold. How can I get it to you?

nice on Paz. By the time I copied the font from one of my machines and got home to tell you Paz had already saved the day. Glad to hear you got your font back.
