Testing Omnipage Ultimate Vocalizer

Postby RJ Johnston » Tue Jun 18, 2013 5:41 am

I've been testing out the new Nuance Omnipage Ultimate package to see how well it does OCR (US $99 introductory price through Digital River). One cool feature I discovered is the inclusion of text-to-speech capabilities. I thought the text-to-speech voices included in Window 8 were really good until I heard how the Omnipage Ultimate "Vocalizer" sounded. The attachment is an MP3 file created by Omnipage using the high quality setting (vocalizer).

Here is the text being spoken:

If it helped for two but not the third then the size of that image must be different.
Either that or the image is blurry to begin with.

Do you know how to use the Clip properties to scale the image down?
If you can scale the image down it will probably be a bit clearer.
You will need to test and see how small you have to get before the blurriness goes away.

Also included in the $99 is Paperport 14 Professional, PDF Creator 8, and Password Genie. There isn't a trial version, but you have 30 days to return it.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Those vocalizers are sounding less mechanical all the time.

As it is, I regularly have arguments with my car's GPS. She's so self-righteous sometimes!

Funny you should mention that Steve, because as soon as I heard the voice I thought it sounded very similar to my GPS app on my iPhone. Although I do believe the synthesized voice on my phone is actually slightly better. There are still a lot of street names that it stumbles on though.

Need a link to that digital river site. www.digitalriver.com doesn't seem to be the correct site.
