Re: Milk Thief, A Short I made for my school film festival

Very nicely shot, Tiny! I think you've definitely got a great eye for cinematography. And did you shoot it and star in it too? That's tough to pull off with any effectiveness -- but you seem to have done it very well! Sorry you missed our spring video contest. But I sure hope we'll see you represent...

Re: Video Yearbook

Well, as everyone here probably knows, I do a family yearbook every year, recapping highlights from our past 12 months' adventures. For me, half the fun is coming up with a format or theme for it. For instance, since it's a school yearbook, maybe you want to make it look like an actual book opening ...

Re: Serious video quality problem with PE4

Thanks for the recommendation, Andy.

Scenalyzer is a great dedicated video capture program with lots of helpful features.

There's a free version that does the basics and, as you've noted, there's also a full version that's fully featured.

Re: Some Great Free Still Images

Wow! Those folks at Wiki have done it again! Note, however, that not everything on the site is completely unrestricted. If you click on an image to get the full-resolution original, it will also bring up the licensing agreement. Most of the images are in the Public Domain and therefore do have unres...

Re: adobe shuts down

I would also check to see what codec that AVI is using. Some codecs (Divx for instance) can be trouble for this program.

Here's how to check:

Remember, this program works best with AVIs using the DV codec.

Re: Serious video quality problem with PE4

Another possibility is to convert your MPEGs to DV-AVIs using this method and this free software. http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.3bc4800e That doesn't solve your need for lots of hard drive space, but it least you will not have to recapture all your video. And, as I said, the other solution is to ...

Re: Serious video quality problem with PE4

The challenge, Reto, is that some MPEGs need to have their interlacing reversed and some do not. Using the Hard Drive/Flash Camcorder setting will reverse the interlacing. If that's causing jitteriness in your DVD, it could be that you're using it with MPEGs that do not need their interlacing revers...

Re: Serious video quality problem with PE4

Exactly where I'm headed, Ron.

Hopefully, by taking the MPEGs out of his workflow, we'll see. (There's always the option of manually reversing the field dominance for each clip, of course -- but that, in my opinion, is a real pain, and I'd like to omit that step if we can.)

Re: Serious video quality problem with PE4

Reto, I believe that the program is related to your incorporating MPEGs into your editing work. Yes, I know they are smaller and more manageable, but MPEGs can cause many problems in programs like Premiere Elements, and you are apparently experiencing some of them. I think that you are absolutely ri...

Re: Serious video quality problem with PE4

From what I could find, this GV-D1000E is a miniDV video player/recorder but it's not a camcorder. Are you capturing into Premiere Elements from this player? Was the original videotape shot on your miniDV camcorder? And can you confirm that you're capturing from the tape and not the memory stick? (I...

Re: Serious video quality problem with PE4

I'm not sure what you mean you when you say you captured your video from a Sony Walkman. Perhaps you meant a Sony HandyCam? Regardless, can you confirm that your video is indeed coming from either a Digital8 or miniDV camcorder over IEEE-1394 and not USB? The problems you describe are common when MP...
