Search found 4623 matchesRe: Mic'ing A PianoSorry to be so long getting an answer back Sidd. I've been out of communication all day and am just now catching up. I think that's a good idea about the separate recording of the piano. If I had the luxury of multitrack in general that would be my preference, which is sort of what you're describing...
Re: Mic'ing A PianoGot it Chuck. Position 5. Is that with the piano open? I should have plenty of time to set this up Wednesday afternoon, so if i have the extra mic available I'll try it with two. It's easy to just not use one if it doesn't work for some reason. Anything you might learn Wednesday would be great, but ...
Re: Mic'ing A Piano Have you seen this? http://www.wikirecording.org/Shure's_Microphone_Techniques_for_Studio_Recording_Section_One:_Acoustic_String_and_Fretted_Instruments#Grand_Piano As a matter of fact I did Bob. That was one of the places that I had read about placing the mic(s) directly above the strings. Any tho...
Re: Mic'ing A PianoNo sound system Chuck. Just choir and piano. It's never amplified for services either. Soloists are fed through the PA, and sometimes tape recorded accompaniment is also used through the PA.
Re: Mic'ing A PianoGood info Sidd. I'll be using a condenser, possibly two. It depends on what's available to me when I go to set things up Wednesday afternoon. I have two good quality AKGs that I'll be using to mic the choir itself. I've been reading that good results can be had by using two mics on a piano, and what...
Re: Mic'ing A PianoThanks Steve. I've been reading Internet articles, but was kind of hoping that someone here might have some personal experience. The article you reference appears to be geared towards mic'ing for amplification. I just want to mic to a mixer and straight to tape. From what I've been reading these are...
Mic'ing A PianoThis question is related to my church marketing DVD topic, but I thought it was deserving on its own. In a couple of days I'm going to be recording a choir with baby grand piano accompaniment. Does anyone have any personal experience mic'ing a piano for recording (not for amplification)? I'd appreci...
Re: Church marketing video - suggestions neededThanks Chuck. I see now that they have "lower budget" mixers that will output directly to USB to record to computer. Now maybe that's old news but I'm not really in that world, so it was a interesting development to me. I'd love to be using a laptop instead of a cassette deck, assuming tha...
Re: Church marketing video - suggestions neededAn update and a question... The interviews turned out well from a technical perspective, and I think we have enough material to get the sound bites we need for the DVD. Wednesday we have plans to tape the choir. The idea will be to get two complete songs and then use only parts of them for the DVD. ...
Re: We're getting more popular! Now that's just too cool!
Re: What we were doing on SaturdayI recognize the breed Chuck. It's a "Beaglus Maximus Gigantus." They usually range from 210 to 240 pounds at maturity. Congratulations on your new puppy. Very sweet.
Re: Morse Code or TextingToo funny. Anyone who's seen code communication at work knew how that one was going to end!
Re: Samsung TVs: Horror Stories Are Numerous Dave, a number of the posters in the link remarked that they would never again buy any TV that was not Japan-branded. I would have to agree, unless it was a very low end product purchased cheap and could be considered a throw-away if it goes bad. Other experiences over the past several years have r...
Re: Samsung TVs: Horror Stories Are NumerousWe had a Samsung DLP that was repaired, under extended warranty, 4 times in 4.5 years. Fortunately the warranty company was a good one and never gave us any grief. They finally ended up offering us our choice of a brand new replacement Mitsubishi DLP, or a large store credit towards any TV of our ch...
Re: Demise of the "Panasonic 3CCD Users Forum?" I don't know what happened to the 3CCD forum but Guy Brunner is very much at the camcorderuser forum and handing out great advice as he always has. I noticed that. I don't know if he was the owner of the 3CCD forum or just the primary moderator, or one of them. There were some good stickies on that...
