Re: problem with the Track Matte function

I reread the other forum thread and one thing is confusing me. In the first post you said you could select none or video 5 for the matte, but in the last post, you said you could only select "none". Is that correct? With your video to show through on track 4 and your matte on track 5, when...

Re: problem with the Track Matte function

Jay, Would you confirm your video track contents and order. And, would you verify that you only have the five tracks listed -- is there a vertical scroll bar on the timeline. The way you describe it sounds very much like what would you would see if you had an extraneous track containing your title o...

Motion backgrounds using Apophysis fractals

I've been playing with a freeware fractal generator/editor called Apophysis (http://www.apophysis.org/downloads.html). While the program is designed to render single images, it does have a scripting capabilty so you can save a series of images as part of an animation. Yesterday, I decided to try usi...

Re: DEP and video files don't mix

I could have sworn I replied to this yesterday, must have hit the wrong button... I also have DEP active and have had no problems. Personally, I would not disable DEP on any machine that has access to the Internet. I've run across individual video files that behave as you described, but those were b...

Re: DivX Acquires MainConcept AG

The current DivX codec is not the same as or based on the hacked MPEG-4 codec. The current DivX and Xvid codecs are two independant development paths split off from a common ancestor codec which was an independant development effort (not based on the hacked codec). DivX has evolved past being just a...

Re: PE 4.0 shutting down while editing titles.

It's too bad that you needed to reinstall the os, but I'm glad to hear that things are working now. It used to be that in old versions of Windows (before XP) that you needed to routinely reinstall the OS to clean out accumulated errors and corrupted files. XP and Vista were major improvements in tha...

Re: PE 4.0 shutting down while editing titles.

Before reinstalling the OS, I'd try a few less drastic diagnostic steps first. Adobe has a troubleshooting knowledgebase entry that goes over some of the things you can try. Not sure if you have XP or Vista. For XP: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=kb402373&sliceId=1 For...

Re: PE 4.0 shutting down while editing titles.

Jim, An importer is a plugin whose purpose in life is to bring in data from the media source file dynamically as it is needed. ImporterAVI would appear to be the importer for avi files. Lot's of things can cause an addressing exception so it's not clear whether it's bad code in importerAVI.prm or a ...

Re: PE 4.0 shutting down while editing titles.

Jim, That 0xc0000005 code is an address exception error equivalent to a S0C5 abend on your IBM mainframe. You really should report this to Adobe. If you don't want to open an incident through tech support, you can submit it through their bug submission form at http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/ind...

Re: Problem recording narration

Thanks. I tried looking for my version 3 disc but couldn't find it. I've been fighting a nasty cold this week that's doing its best to turn into bronchitis and my concentration isn't what it usually is. I think my senior moments are turning into senior fortnights.

Re: VirtualDub-Mpeg ~ Question on AVI File Size...

Ken is correct. If you use the Panasonic DV codec and select uncompressed audio (PCM), VirtualDub will write a standard type 2 DV-AVI which Premiere Elements can process easily. If you aren't getting audio, something else is wrong. First, make sure that full processing mode is selected and "sou...
