Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

My project is complete. I flattened all the 60+ DVDs, and collected about 42 other videos that had been made. The DVD files fit on one 64GB thumb drive, and the videos on a second. I have now sent the drives out to each of my children and grandchildren. Thanks for all your help and let's see what th...

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Thanks all. I will stick with FAT32. It’s all I need for now!

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Thanks Chris! I did some more checking, and the problem I was seeing was NOT that the files were too big for the TV to handle. It turns out that the big files were all type .m2t and it now appears that the TV does not support those. Merely renaming them to .mpg solves the problem. You are correct th...

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Hi Sidd. I think the TV restriction may be because the thumb drives are formatted FAT32. But if it is a TV limitation, there is not much I can do except get the file size down. I will also check to see if the TV supports NTFS. I discussed the situation with my wife and family and they do not in any ...

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Well, I need more help! Phase 1 of my work completed successfully. I found a DVD image to MPEG converter and it worked fine. All the 60+ images fit on a 64GB thumb drive and I am sending them out to the family now. Resolution is standard DVD widescreen, but I can live with that. Phase 2 involved tak...

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Thanks Chuck. I have one 13 year old grandkid but the rest range from 18 to 23, so I am about 10 years ahead of you. My thumb drives are now written (got 5 64 GB from Amazon for $32 - cheap) and ready to mail out, so that phase of my work is pretty much done. But this got me fired up a bit. I pulled...

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Things are coming along. I am almost finished converting all the DVD images to .mp4. I asked the family about the loss of menus and they are all OK with it. A lot of the projects have section titles anyhow, so no real need for the menu. I tested the .mp4 files on a thumb drive plugged into my (relat...

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Thanks Chuck, good to hear from you. Making each chapter a separate .mp4 file would be somewhat difficult as I would have to open the project file for each DVD and I don't have any of the back levels of PE on my PC these days, and you know how difficult it was to open old projects in newer versions ...

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Thanks all. After thinking today, I have decided to bite the bullet and say goodbye to the menus. Got a good conversion program to generate MP4’s. About $120 or so will get a media player box and drive for each recipient. Will check prices on SSD also. Time and technology marches on! I have oodles a...

Re: Format Conversion, Yet Again

Hi Peru. Good to hear from you. The g’kids of course are major players in many of the DVDs. Although it took a while, their maturity is now showing through and they want to be a part of the process. Right now that is just a maintenance role which I will start be getting the images to them for safeke...

Format Conversion, Yet Again

Hello to all of my old friends. It has, again, been a while. I am fine. Actually nothing to report, which I guess is good news. Turned 73 this year, and Alice and I are celebrating our 51st wedding anniversary soon! I have the same old question I have asked in the past, just updated. My problem is m...

Re: Create menus on flash drive?

Hi all. This is a topic of much concern to me. I have posted at various times in the past on this. I have my 60+ family DVDs, all with menus. I was never really comfortable with DVD Architect but learned to make peace with it. So all that I have done is to backup everything I can, including the sour...
