Converter for HD to M2tAny recommendations on a converter, free is good but don't mind paying a small amount. I need to convert .mov files from a T4i to M2ts. I saw an ad for avs, is this one good? Thanks.

Re: Converter for HD to M2tCheck out the Aunsoft video converter. It's one of the best I've seen (short of the Adobe Media Encoder).
It's $35, but check out the free trial and see if it will work with your source files. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Converter for HD to M2tThanks Steve, I'll give it a try.

Re: Converter for HD to M2tThe bad news: It doesn't convert to M2t. Any other HD conversion it reduces the file size by 2/3
The good news: In running tests I used a different project preset of 1080p (1440x1080) and the Full HD 1920x1080 worked with no crashes. On my previous project I used the 720p preset and had many crashes. So it appears that I do not have to convert if I use that size. The other camera recording setting of 720p 60fps in a 720p 30fps it runs very slow. Looking at the converter it is a nice one with many export options if you don't have the AME. aka Cheryl

Re: Converter for HD to M2tI was going to recommend Aunsoft as well.
I also use Movavi Video Converter, and that does convert to M2TS. http://www.movavi.com/videoconverter/ They want $39.95. Movavi usually sends you discounts if you wait long enough after you download the trial. I forget if there is a watermark on the output. Re: Converter for HD to M2tThanks RJ, that is a very nice converter. It does convert to M2t files, but again got 2/3 compression no matter what settings...best quality, etc. In the window for the source I did change the quality to match the original file size and it still compressed. The original 23 second clip was 149mb and ended up with 54mb. Guess I'll stick with the original format to edit and hopefully I won't crash. At this point I am only using the T4i for short clips. Any long recording sessions I'll still use the HV30 and eventually I'll upgrade my computer & programs.
Looking at both converters the Movavi seems to have more setting options. I see that you can change the I-frame intervals as well. aka Cheryl

Re: Converter for HD to M2tCheryl,
Do you have the Pro license for Quicktime Player, or do you have VideoRedo TV Suite H.264? If you can extract the video and audio streams from the MOV file, so that you end up with separate video and audio files, you can use TSMuxerGui to create a M2TS file that doesn't require recoding the video or audio. Re: Converter for HD to M2tRJ, I don't have any of those programs.

Re: Converter for HD to M2tI agree with RJ Johnson...
Although no longer developed, tsMuxeR should be able to do it. They have a GUI version also that is easier to use. It is free. You can find it at the tools section of videohelp.com
