I thought I'd pass this along in case anyone wasn't aware of this program. It's called sagelight editor. I purchased this a while back and it's been great. I believe the home page is sagelighteditor.com Below is a link to his blog. This is the page you should take a look at. What I really thought was interesting was the plug-in he has featured and shows examples of. For all I know it may be a plug-in that works with a lot of photo editing programs, I just thought it was interesting. Anyway, it may be worth looking into this, as well as the editor itself, if anyone (like me) who gets overwhelmed by programs like photoshop, this may work out well for you also. Here's the link that shows the plug-in. http://sagelighteditor.wordpress.com/

From what I could see it does a lot of what Photoshop Elements will do.

For some reason, at least to me, this program is much simpler to use. There are a lot of video tutorials on youtube direct from the author, and ... you can email the author / programmer and he will reply to you, often within hours. Not to mention it was only 40 bucks with lifetime free upgrades and the ok to install on your other computers. And I love the way you can toggle views and comparison views as well.
BTW, is this where I posted this? I thought I put it in the water cooler area ... I'm shot ....

Might have gotten moved by a Moderator, this is a good place for it.
I never really had a problem with Photoshop Elements but I used PaintShop Pro before that. As far as help goes you won't find any photo software with more help or tutorials than Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. It can be easy or difficult to use, depends on what you want to use it for that's all.

I guess for the amount of time I spend editing photos, which is very little, I'm always looking for something intuitive that lets me sort of bypass the learning curve. Layers is a concept I understand, but how to use them is something that I'd have to work with. This program seems to do that for you without having to deal with them. Some of the things that must be common knowledge amongst all the folks that hobby at photo editing are greek to me, and it seems that they are passed over, even in tutorials. One example that comes to mind relative to layers, is for example, a menu choice that says, "create raster layer". Sounds simple enough, but I don't know what a raster is as opposed to a vector. I could spend hours trying to understand that concept and then forget why I wanted to edit the photo... LOL Anyway, maybe a dummies book is the best place for me to start. I just don't do it enough to care to get involved. That's why this program seemed so friendly to use. Another program, (which naturally is no longer made) that was intuitive in my mind, was Microsoft's Digital Image Pro. That's what I used until it was no longer made or ran on Vista or Win7, so I found this one. Someday I'll have the time to get involved with understanding it. Some people are a jack of all trades and a master of none, I'm a hack of all trades and a jack of none.

FYI, those plugins mentioned are 32-bit Photoshop compatible. They should work fine in both Photoshop Elements and the 32-bit versions of Photoshop.

Is there anything in there that Photoshop doesn't already do Bob? Or do they just make it easier to perform an effect, like an Action?

I'm still a new kid at this photo/movie thing but thought I'd submit this editor that I've used for about 2 years. The link is: http://www.paint.net/Maybe the experts think this program is limited compared to Adobe but one decide for themselves. It does everything I need so maybe it will be viable alternative for some here. Carry on....hope that helps.

I downloaded Paint, and it's a very nice photo editor! Especially for free.
But why do they make it so hard to find the link to download it? Every page has a big link to Gimp -- and a little link buried off to one side for Paint!

Mornin' Steve.... Yes....I noticed that too. I recall finding the program (2-3 years ago) when I googled for ANYTHING that might be better than the funky, unusable default MS program in XP. Being quite impressed I couldn't believe how much better and full featured it was compared to the MS paint program. I am pretty comfortable with the program now but remember thinking that I had another learning curve to deal with.
Time for more coffee....carry on...
