Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?I have never found DVD RW disks to be reliable. They seem to "forget" too easily.

And they do. I would never use an RW (either CD or DVD) for archiving. Just for temporary use - test runs, etc. Bobby (Bob Seidel)
Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?
(My bold!) I almost always check my finished DVDs by burning an RW DVD. No coasters that way. AMD Ryzen 3900x 12C/24T, ASUS x570 mobo, Arctic Liquid Freezer ll 280, Win11 64 bit, 64GB RAM, Radeon RX 570 graphics, Samsung 500GB NVMe 980 PRO (C:), Samsung 970 Evo SSD (D:), Dell U2717D Monitor, Synology DS412+ 8TB NAS, Adobe CS6.
Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?I've now thrown out the few DVD+RW discs which I still had. Won't ever be using them again!
Thanks, guys! All the very best, Bill Dell XPS 430 running Win7 Pro 64-bit with 8GB RAM, Sony TRV480E (digital8), Sony GVD800 vcr (digital8), Sony HDR-FX7E (HDV, miniDV), and Sony CX730E (AVCHD).
Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?I have decided to use DL disks for the first time in a current project but checking on CDFreaks and VideoHelp forums I find that disk manufacturing issues have come up.
I'm pretty sure that Verbatim DL is still very good quality but the cost is still in the neighborhood of $2.00 US a piece! Phillips and Ritek are much more reasonably priced but then I have greater uncertainty. BTW, IIRC, +R is still the most compatible burned media format for DL? What is your most recent experience with DL media? -=Ken Jarstad=-

Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?Verbatim +R DL. Used a lot of them and never a problem - well so far anyway. And you are correct about the price with DL DVD media being about 3 - 4 times the price of a standard DVD-R (before taxes) here in the UK.

Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?Any new links to trusted online sources with great prices?
Thanks
Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?I get the Ty 8x hub printable DVD-R from here:

Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?
I buy the exact same media. I don't know if there are less expensive places to buy from, but they're a great place to shop and I think with free shipping they're very reasonable. Never had a problem with SuperMediaStore. Be yourself; everyone else is taken.

Re: What Brands of DVD Media Are The Best?
Using your links and ImgBurn>Discovery, here is what I learned: 1) my HP SD DVDs@$35/100 are made by CMC MAG, AE3 and are therefore rated poorly (but I've yet to have a coaster) * 2) Panasonic media, including apparently my BD-Rs@$35/5 are made by Taiyo Yuden (also no coasters) for posting ____ Late edit: *Interestingly, Verbatim discs made by the same manufacturer are rated good in the same link: http://www.videohelp.com/dvdmedia?&next=50#next HP h8-1360t Win7 Home Premium 64-bit/Intel i7-3770@3.40GHz/8GB RAM/NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050/LG BH10LS30 Blu-ray RW+SD DVD/CD RW+LightScribe/52" Samsung LCD HDTV (ancient 1080p)/PRE & PSE & ORGANIZER 2018/CS 5.1 & 5.5 (rare use)
