Adobe has become aware of a bug in Quicktime 7.4 that is causing export to MOV problems for Premiere Elements and Pro/CS as well as After Effects CS. Attempts to export will generate the error: "Error compiling movie. Unable to create or open output"
If you've already installed 7.4, it's recommended that you uninstall it and reinstall version Quicktime 7.3.1 until the next generation of the program when, hopefully, Apple will have addressed the situation.

It's too late for me. I've already burned 4 MOV's of different formats in Premiere Elements 4.0 with Quicktime 7.4 installed. No errors were reported.

Maybe it's just one of those better-safe-than-sorry warnings, Robert.
Oh well. If it ain't broke...

I'm still only finding Quicktime 7.4 on the Apple site, Robert.
iTunes is at version 7.6 though.

Yeah, the pop-up said itunes+quicktime 7.6. Then I went to download just quicktime, but quicktime is only 7.4.

I decided to take another route to create a MOV file, and BINGO!
Trying to go File > Export > Movie > QuickTime > ....
Now I know what to do.

Apple just came out with Quicktime 7.4.1. But don't install it. Apple still doesn't have it right.

There's a new version of Quicktime, 7.4.5. I can now export, File > Export > Movie > Quicktime, without getting a runtime error. http://www.quicktime.com
