With great sorrow I must announce that our dear friend, long-time Muvipix community member and very prolific contributor to this forum Sidd Finch passed away this weekend.
Sidd, whose real name was Jim Ciarico, lived in the valleys of north-central California. As evidenced by his frequent contributions to this forum, he loved life, loved sharing stories about his farm and the communities surrounding him and he very much loved to tell stories with video.
He battled throat cancer these last couple of years and, though declared cancer-free, the physical toll it took on him finally brought him down.
Needless to say, his presence will be sorely missed.
Personally, he and I became very close these past couple of years, and we'd worked together on several video projects. I'm truly heartbroken.
Take care, Jim. And happy moviemaking wherever you are. You won't soon be forgotten.

His nom de plume "Sidd Finch" also has an interesting backstory. Check it out when you get it chance. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sidd_Finch

It's sad to hear about that. His upbeat manner on the forum and the videos he posted gave no indication of his condition. He will be missed.

What a shock. I never suspected anything was wrong. I'm so, so sorry to receive this heartbreaking news. I just don't know what to say.

This is such sad and unexpected news. I appreciated his words of advice to my many questions and I especially enjoyed his wonderful videos! I re-watched his most recent video, "Christmas in the Park" and recall how excited Sidd was that his video would be used for promotion. I went to his vimeo page and spent some time today viewing many of his videos - some he had shared on muvipix and others were new to me. Here's the link for anyone who wants to watch or re-watch some wonderful Sidd Finch creations... https://vimeo.com/user2412093Thank you Steve for letting us know. Sidd will be very greatly missed. I hope his family knows how much we enjoyed his words and his work.

On many occassions I turned to Sidd (via PM and email) for his advice on a range of "gadgets" that I knew he was familiar with, advice that was freely and enthusiastically given.
Even though we never met face to face, Sidd,I and many other people will miss you and your contributions here. RIP

Same here! Sidd was helpful on my last big project, daughter's wedding. As you, John, helped me on that one too! Sidd would post all these useful gadgets that we didn't know that we needed (wanted). Will miss his love for gadgets, GoPro and drones.

I'm deeply saddened to hear of Sidd's passing. I have been fortunate to have Sidd as a friend. I last heard from Sidd last Saturday (Dec 30th) when he wrote to wish me a Happy New Year and expressed optimism that 2024 would be a stable and safe year for both of us.
One of the things that brought us together was cancer. We had different types of cancer, but the paths we were taking were very similar and the chemotherapy and radiation he received caused lasting problems. Sidd was very caring and checked in on me often. I really appreciated that. it helped so much to be able to talk to someone who had experienced many of the same problems and understood what I was going through.
Sidd was a dear friend and I will greatly miss him.
