A Race to the Gate

Postby sidd finch » Thu Jun 15, 2017 10:26 am

For all that have had the distinct pleasure of trying to get through the airport terminal to reach your plane when you realize that your departure gate is at the other end of the terminal...... I welcome you to the formerly busiest airport in the world, Chicago O'Hare.

Airports are one of the few places on earth you can get to act like a fish trying to swim upstream.....

Oh yeah, been there, done that, except in Atlanta. 30 minutes to catch a connecting flight on the far other end. Except at least there were people movers there. :TU:

This was good old fashion foot power.....

I used my handheld gimbal and carried a bag in the same arm so that the gimbal would not swing as much... Turned the record light off and started walking..

That was a very nice tour.
Does your GoPro have a lock for exposure? It seems that the exposure is very even.
And that was using your $500 gimbal?
That's really nice.

Thanks RJ.

Shutter speed Auto, ISO locked at 400.

3 axis gimbal but the cost of the gimbal was on about $200 USD.

Nice and steady shot Sidd! Thanks for sharing how you shot this. Good idea turning the video light off.

Been there too many times. I live in Atlanta, the home of the busiest airport in the world. Fly in and out 20 - 40 times a year, just went to Syracuse and back this past week. Syracuse airport was a breath of fresh air in comparison to Chicago, Atlanta or even Miami. Great video Sidd, I have been there :)

So did you make it on time for the flight? I was hoping to see you actually reach the gate at the end...

As always Sidd, great choice of music :TU:

I did make the flight Chuck...phew. I turned off the camera right as I reached the gate. The icon on the floor at the end was the American Airline logo which was the gate. The follow up is the plane taking off. You can see that the airport was jumping that evening as there were lots and lots of planes leaving and entering the runways.
