Specific to Premiere Elements version 15
by Ron » Wed Jan 18, 2017 4:50 pm
Hi Everyone, ... And it's got me stumped. I will try to be brief. I installed the bundle back in November - I needed to edit a few image files in PE. Well, I never launched Premiere Elements until a couple of days ago. Won't launch. I get the Welcome Screen, but when selecting Video Editor, nothing happens. I've tried several different nVidia drivers, no luck. Performed a System Restore to mid December, same issue. I started the system with generic audio/video drivers and still have the issue. The Event Viewer has the following error: Activation context generation failed for "c:\program files\adobe\adobe premiere elements 15\MPEGHDVExport.exe". Dependent Assembly Plug-ins\Common\TSStrider,type="win32",version="1.0.0.0" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis.
I was hoping that maybe someone has had this problem and/or can guide me with some troubleshooting steps.
Regards, -Ron

Do you have previous versions of the program installed that used to work? Do they no longer launch either?

I uninstalled the previous version (10), Steve. And never had a problem with it. Now I wish I would've left it installed.

By the way, did you try the Adobe Clean Tool and then install the application again?

The Clean Tool didn't have Premiere Elements listed as an option, mostly the "Creative" stuff... unless I did something wrong.
I will try to install the older version to see what happens.

With the cleaner tool, choose the All option on the first set of selections. The Elements programs will show up on the next screen.

Premiere Elements was not listed. Didn't want to "clean" the other programs.

I don't know why your Premiere Elements installations aren't showing on this second option screen for the Cleaner Tool. They always do on mine.

Steve, should I have left it installed? All of those programs are still installed.
Edit: Why would the cleaner want to clean stuff that's still installed??

I don't know. I believe it gives you the option to clean off all your Adobe programs -- but I'm no expert.

Steve, I'm not at my Desktop.... will PRE run in [Windows] Safe Mode? I can try that to determine if it is, in fact, a driver issue.
Thanks for hanging in there with me.
