Don't know if this is good news.

Re: Magix acquires SCS PortfolioTT got here first:)
At least something has happened.
Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioMagix GmbH is a holding company so you would normally expect that the product line will continue fairly intact. But, there is considerable overlap with some of their existing product lines. I wouldn't be totally surprised if some consolidation occurred. Clearly they wanted to increase their share in the North American market.
Time will tell.
Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioActually, this is kind of good news. Sony implied a few years ago that they were not going to create a version 14 of its Vegas or Movie Studio software -- which left a lot of users wondering if they were going to abandon the software altogether.
And this at least means it will continue in some form. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioNote also that the CEO of Magix posted in LinkedIn as early as April 29, 2016 this:
"Opening our new Development Studio in USA / Madison WI soon. We are hiring. Looking for senior software developer."
Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioThat's VERY good news, vk! That means they'll still be using the original team that developed the product!

Steve your commute from Milwaukee to Madison will be a long one... lol "Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it." ..... Ferris Bueller
Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioWhenever I'm in Madison/Middleton, I consider dropping into the offices and introducing myself. But then I assume the whole experience would be a disappointment for everyone involved.

Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioFrom a Chris Dolan of Sony (he moved from Vegas Pro to Catalyst dev.) post on his public Google+.
"---MAGIX did not purchase Catalyst Browse, Catalyst Prepare, nor Catalyst Edit (and some others) -- those are products I will continue to work on here at Sony. Some of my former Sony colleagues have taken jobs with MAGIX (in fact, MAGIX appears to be hiring more---). I truly wish them well and I believe that Vegas has a strong future. A number of those people were part of Sonic Foundry before Sony purchased Vegas from them back in 2003, so this transition has an interesting precedent."
Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioFurther to the post above, from Gary Rebholz ( a long-time SCS man) in his LinkedIn page:
"I'm excited to announce that I have accepted the position of Product Owner with Magix. I will be leading the development team as we shape the future of Vegas Pro and Vegas Movie Studio, now owned by Magix." A quick look into LinkedIn profiles show some former SCS staffers are moving with him. SCS statement here http://www.redsharknews.com/business/it ... s-to-magix
Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioThe plot thickens...

Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software Portfolio...and goes on, Gary Rebholz in a fresh interview (in English).

Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioSo it's looking like Vegas/Movie Studio will continue to exist rather than be dissolved into the Magix software?

Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software Portfolio"Several new features are planned for the autumn release along with the rebranding effort and significant bug fixes and stability work."
"We will maintain and continue the Vegas brand." Can you explain those two comments about branding in the same interview?
Re: Magix acquires Sony Creative Software PortfolioPending further developments, I can only assume (not explain anything) that Sony Vegas to MAGIX Vegas would be rebranding?
