Re: Bullet-Time DIYCool high-tech effect from low-tech equipment!
We've come a long way from Fred Ott's sneeze. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Bullet-Time DIYSO COOL, Sid! Thanks for posting this.
I've been wondering how I could make a good video of a water splash. Of course, there's also the question of how to make sure the camera doesn't get splashed! Lenovo W70l; 1.6 GHz, i7 quad core, Win 7, 64 bit, 16 gigs DDR-3 RAM; NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800; Two 1T 7200 internal drives; BluRay burner
Re: Bullet-Time DIYYou could get one here, Paz:

Re: Bullet-Time DIYWhile the project part of this is inexpensive that GoPro Hero 3 black is not ($399 USD). What makes the video have that cool effect is that the GoPro is shooting at 240 fps which is pretty fast. Not sure how a "regular" camera might be up to the task.

Re: Bullet-Time DIYPeru,
I found some really neat Splash intros there. Thanks! Got lots of ideas too. I've purchased songs from Envato before but never looked into VideoHive. Sid, Yes, I see what you mean. I don't remember off hand what speed I have available but I'll be sure to check it out before dragging out the ladder and taking any ceiling fans down! Lenovo W70l; 1.6 GHz, i7 quad core, Win 7, 64 bit, 16 gigs DDR-3 RAM; NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800; Two 1T 7200 internal drives; BluRay burner
Re: Bullet-Time DIYThanks for posting Sidd. The GoPro is on my wish list. It is interesting that 2 flash lights were used and looks like paper towels were strapped on them. We have 2 of those types of lights and maybe use as DIY studio lights?

Re: Bullet-Time DIYYes, paper towels would make a good diffuser. I'm sure lack of shadows is important.
I must admit I don't understand why a fast or slow shutter speed would matter. I did check and have a camera that can shoot 300 fps. Another thing I don't understand is how he kept the liquid off the camera itself? Waterproof housing? Still, the lens should have been splashed with goop! Lenovo W70l; 1.6 GHz, i7 quad core, Win 7, 64 bit, 16 gigs DDR-3 RAM; NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800; Two 1T 7200 internal drives; BluRay burner
Re: Bullet-Time DIYI just got it. Something like a water splash happens so quickly it's over almost before you can see it. That's the reason to have lots and lots of shots so the details aren't jumping from one place to another when viewing the video.

Re: Bullet-Time DIYExperiment shooting high def vs shooting high speed/slow motion with my camera.
Both shot at 10X magnification, maximum optical zoom for camera. Both shot from same tripod position, one after the other. Both took approximately the same length of time to film in 'real' time. Ads for the camera say it will shoot in slow motion, 300 frames per second, but don't bother to mention that it will not do so in high definition. In fact, High Speed setting is not available in the menu as long as 60p is chosen. Took me hours to figure out why it wasn't there. The manual is not clearly written. 480p is max definition for slow motion. So, Cheryl, go for the GoPro! Not this... Normal speed, high definition, sound of fountain and cicadas in background: 300 frames per second, Slow Motion, no sound recorded in slow motion: Lenovo W70l; 1.6 GHz, i7 quad core, Win 7, 64 bit, 16 gigs DDR-3 RAM; NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800; Two 1T 7200 internal drives; BluRay burner
Re: Bullet-Time DIYThe GoPro only does 848 x 480 @ 240fps. Looks like you need to spend many thousands of dollars to get HD at a super high frame rate.....

Re: Bullet-Time DIYI wonder if my good old Technics turntable could fit ...
Re: Bullet-Time DIY
I'm saving mine to transfer my vinyl to digital some day.
Re: Bullet-Time DIY
I actually did that about 10 years ago using a Technics SL-1200 MKII to transfer my old DJ records. I only had about 40-50 records and it took me a solid 2 weeks to transfer. I hope you have some time. LOL Dell Studio XPS 8100, Intel Core i7 2.8GHz, 4GB RAM, 64-Bit Win7. Camera gear: 2x Canon 550D's, 1x Canon EOS 6D body, Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 & 17-50mm f2.8, Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 & 24-70mm f/2.8L, and two 420EX flashes.
Re: Bullet-Time DIY
That's why I haven't done it yet. I probably have have a couple hundred. I spent two years scanning negatives of family photos. I'm about half done. I'll start up again when I need a break from editing.
