I occasionally use Tapatalk on my iPhone to read and respond to Muvipix threads. The Tapatalk app automatically updated this week and after the update, the app requested my username and password before I could view threads. When I incorrectly entered my password I got an error message saying I needed to enter the CAPTCHA text, but there was no such text on the screen.
I've closed and re-opened the Tapatalk app, and I have power cycled the iPhone; no difference.
Has anyone else encountered this, and if so, how did you fix it?

In similar situations I've found that a one-time login into the account on a regular computer's web browser will often solve the issue. It may present you with a CAPTCHA there. Regarding the recent Tapatalk updates, I know of quite a few people in other forums who have been having a myriad of issues in the past couple of weeks. You may have seen my own thread regarding a fiasco I had last week with it. I personally stopped using it, at least for the foreseeable future until I'm sure that they've got things worked out.

I haven't upgraded the Tapatalk software in a while, not that I think it will solve this problem, but if you guys think it might, I will install the latest version.

Don't know about the host software on your end Ron. I was referring to the updates that have taken place in the phone apps, of course. I'd like to think that software gets improved with each update, but in this case that may not be true.

I know what you mean about the value of app updates Dave. I'm not completely thrilled with iOS7. The Control Center is good but I'm not a fan of the rest of the OS update.
I'm not too worried about the Tapatalk issue. I presumed it was the fault of the app and not the Muvipix website. Hopefully it will get sorted on its own within a few weeks. If not, oh well, I'll "kick it old school" and just view Muvipix on a web browser.

Ron, I'm curious if you tried logging into Tapatalk via web browser as I suggested above?

Are these forced updates or can you opt out? If you can opt out, don't update if it isn't broken.

With the frequent changes in iOS, and especially the version update to iOS 7, it's generally asking for trouble if you don't get updates to apps. Problems like these are rare. With iOS 7 updates are automatic, although it is possible to set an option to update manually. So to answer your question, it's kind of darned if you don't, and occasionally darned if you do. Unfortunately I don't know of any way to revert to a previous version of an app, except to have made a full backup in iTunes before the update and to do a complete wipe and restore of the phone from backup. Too many problems involved to make that practical.

Dave, I just tried to login to Tapatalk through a web browser. I received an error message that said my username and password were for app access only, and that I would need to create a forum account to sign in through the web browser. Since I don't plan to use Tapatalk that way I skipped it.

Well it was worth a try. You might try Tapatalk's e-mail support. I don't recall if I've ever used it, but I've done so with several other apps at one time or another and almost always find good help.
