Narrative insert makes video clips move

Narrative insert makes video clips moveI have ten separate narrative audio clips. After having made adjustments and other edits of stills on my video 1 line, if I pull one of the narrative clips into place on the narrative line, the stills on the video line move to the right...the exact length of the narrative clip. Like oil on water. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
Re: Narrative insert makes video clips moveMe again. I should add that the "delete and close gap" function is always grayed out, when this earth-ending gap occurs. Thanks.
Re: Narrative insert makes video clips moveWelcome to Muvipix, Amadeus.
You've actually got two very separate issues here. 1) The reason clips move around when you add or move other clips is because the timeline is set to ripple by default. To override this function, hold down the Ctrl key (the Cmd key on a Mac) as you add or move your clips. 2) Delete and Close Gap is grayed out if you have other video or audio on parallel tracks which prevent it from being a true gap. In most cases, a gap is only a gap if its a gap on all tracks. Then you just double-click on it, right-click and select Delete and Close Gap. BTW, have you seen our free 8-part Basic Training tutorials for Premiere Elements? The set called "Intro to Premiere Elements" apply to versions 8, 9 and 10. http://muvipix.com/products.php?searchp ... &btn.y=-78 HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
Re: Narrative insert makes video clips moveThanks so much, Steve. You made my day. I did buy your book, missed that trick. I will also check out the video you recommended.
