Gradient wipes

Postby bry_man » Thu Jan 05, 2017 5:18 am

hi

ive been looking into these gradient wipes and have downloaded your free pack, I only did it so I can try and figure out how to make my own... problem is from what I can see, (plus watching you tube for help on this) they all use pro, and I cant make these solid templates....

so is there any other way I can create my own.... one effect I would like to create is a mickey mouse gradient where his head outline changes the picture, like he`s sliding across the screen... is this possible??

ty in advance

I'm not clear on the Mickey Mouse effect you're trying to create, but it's certainly possible to create your own templates. As we show you in our books, a gradient wipe template is as simple as black to white gradient in any shape. The Gradient Wipe will use the template to create a wipe from the blackest black are to the whitest white.

thankyou for your reply, as I have seen on youtube you can use letters etc for the wipe, and im hoping I can create one with the shape of mickeys head....

but as much as I think this is possible, can I do it without having "pro"???

ty again in advance, and ty for your help

Is this the type of transition you are trying to create?

For this one, I used the plain "Wipe" transition located in the "Wipes" transitions, then I overlaid a graphic of a robot on the track above the track with the wipe transition. I keyframed the position of the robot so that half the robot showed at the beginning of the transition and half the robot showed at the end of the transition. You need only 2 position keyframes on the robot clip, one at the beginning and one at the end. When played back, the Robot moves perfectly in sync with the blue/yellow border. Before keyframming, I made the graphic clip the same length of time as the transition takes.

For other types of transitions, you may need to also apply the same transition directly to the graphic itself so that it distorts in sync with the transition on the track below.
