work flow

Postby hpharley90 » Thu Aug 23, 2012 3:10 pm

In the past with PE2.0 I would work with smaller clips and edit as I want (transitions and credits etc) then export the clip as an uncompressed AVI.
I would then bring uncompressed AVI clip back into project and put it on the timeline and continue on in that way.

Now I went from PE2.0 to PE10 so I'm asking would the work flow be the same using m2t files.
Would I work on a small clip then export as 1920x1080 Blu-ray and bring back into project?
Am I making sense? :-D
Thanks
Richard

Actually, the best workflow for doing a larger standard def project in small parts is to output each segment as a DV-AVI, not an uncompressed AVI, Richard. That's the perfect workflow for standard def.

For high-def, the ideal format is Share/Computer/MPEG option for a 1440x1080 MPEG2 at 30i. This will load perfectly into an HDV project. (Those are non-square pixels, so it's the same size as a 1920x1080 hi-def file.)

I've been experimenting with other settings that use AVCHD and 1920x1080, but haven't come up with one yet that doesn't need to be rendered after added to Premiere Elements.

EDIT
Eureka! It does work!

For hi-def, use Share/Computer/AVCHD with the M2T H264 1920x1080i 30 preset. The file will load right into a project set up for Full AVCHD 1920x1080.

Your so correct. I might have been thinking of uncompressed audio.

Yes I tried that and it worked!

I did see some degradation though. My 7 year old daughters red and white polka dot bathing suit was doing a lot of moving around in the newly imported clip but not in the original
Thanks
