VOB filesI'm downloading a VOB file. Set "Standard 48Hz" in project preset (As explained on page 27). File extension in Project Panel after download is still ".VOB" Shouldn't it change to something showing that it is now a "friendly DV-AVI?"
Re: VOB filesHi, welcome to Muvipix, e!
It should work fine as is, if you've set your project up using the Hard Disk Camcorder project preset (not the DV preset). Just give the program a chance to conform it once you've added it to your project. But, if you do have any problems, you can change the suffix to .mpg. Re: VOB filesWelcome to Muvipix ekermer
Premiere doesn't change the file at all, including the extension. You can export the file to a AVI format if you want to but it isn't necessary. Premiere Elements as Premiere Pro, is a non linear editing system, and non destructive. It does nothing to the downloaded, captured or imported files and only keeps coded references to them. All changes and edits made to the clips are recorded in the project file and not actually preformed on the clip itself. 1. Re: VOB filesNothing to add to the conversation.
I just wanted to say, "Welcome to Muvipix!"
Re: VOB filesConforming, by the way, is the process by which Premiere Elements "digests" your file and shapes it into something it can work with.
If you load an AVI from a miniDV camcorder into Premiere Elements, it digests it in a few seconds. With MPEGs and VOBs -- especially longer ones -- it can take a little longer. You can watch the progress down in the lower right corner of the program. Before your file is conformed, it may show up as blank on your timeline. Once it's been conformed, you should be able to see every frame. HP Envy with 2.9/4.4 ghz i7-10700 and 16 gig of RAM running Windows 11 Pro
