striping audio from video clip

Postby The Director » Fri Mar 09, 2012 3:32 pm

Hi,

I have a clip in my project library that I would like to only use the music track. How can I do this? Can I make an mp3 file of then track and save it?
Is there a way to strip a track from a video clip?

Thanks
The Director

There are a number of ways to do this.

You can put the video on your timeline in Premiere Elements, for instance, and use Share/Computer/Audio to output a WAV or MP3.

If you don't need to save the separate audio as a file, you can place the video clip on the timeline. Then, Alt click on the video portion and press either the delete or backspace key. You will be left with just the audio track.

I knew you could right click and select "unlink audio and video", but you have to love those modifier keys. Good tip!
