Cannot open MSP12

Having come back to MSP12 after a year's absence, I find the program won't even open!
I get a message saying "Movie Studio Platinum has stopped working - do you want to send a report?"
Nothing has changed on my PC since I last used the program, all drivers are up to date - can anyone throw any light on this, please?
Do I have to re-install?

So you're saying that it used to work but doesn't any more? Have you tried uninstalling it, running a registry cleaner like CCleaner and the reinstalling it?

You also say nothing has changed on your PC -- but things on a PC are always changing. Updates are being installed, new drivers are being installed, new programs are added and removed. And certainly adding or switching antivirus and/or firewall programs can make a difference.

But try the reinstall with the registry clean. And make sure you have the latest version of Quicktime from Apple. That alone may do it.

I understand what you say about things always changing!
I shall do as you suggest, uninstall, CCleaner, and re-install.
Why do these things always happen after you think "I'll just do *that* quickly..."?

No luck - exactly the same thing is happening.
I don't understand how Firewall & Anti-virus affects the program and what to do about it.
Other than cry...

If you have not yet done so, it may at least be worth trying a program reset.

IT WORKS!!!!!

I went back through System Restore (without actually doing a restore) and something triggered my memory.
In a fit of pique at Apple (I was fed up with updates to iPlayer, which I don't use) I uninstalled all their products - including Quicktime...
All sorted now!

Steve, I'm not so sure that it was what worked here, but as you know it does work surprisingly often, if the software used to work
