Preview Quality

Preview QualityI am curious to see if anyone alse is having issues with the preview quality in MS13 or MS. I have bad quality, not so much that you can't see it, but bad enough for it to have really bothered at the outset. It was also prevalent in MS10. So, one day, for the heck of it, I burned a DVD..and when played on our Smart Tv it was beautiful. It leads me to believe something is not right in MS. I s'pose it could be the graphics card, I just don't have a clue, and I've considered (it's built into the MB) buying a higher priced one just insure reproductive quality. Any thoughts appreciated.

Re: Preview QualityI'm glad you asked, it was set to Auto and I just changed to Full. We'll see if anything changes. I never considered that possibility.

Re: Preview QualityI'm constantly bouncing back and forth on my preview settings. The problem is that the hardware has to huff and puff more on the higher preview settings because it's trying to do a live render of all your effects and transitions on the spot during playback, so sometimes the lower-quality preview settings will make it smoother.

Re: Preview QualityI'm the same way, Kent. It all depends on whether the playback speed or the way it looks is my priority at the time.

Re: Preview QualityGood points guys, thanks. I will remember this for the future. I have found that I can live with the lesser preview quality, but there may be times when I will need it for whatever the reason.

Re: Preview Qualityfor reference here are the preview quality meanings:
Quality: Best Scaling: bi-cubic with integration Field Handling: on Field Rendering: on (setting dependent) Framerate Resample/IFR: on (switch dependent) Quality: Good Scaling: bi-linear Field Handling: on Field Rendering: on (setting dependent) Framerate Resample/IFR: on (switch dependent) Quality: Preview Scaling: bi-linear Field Handling: off Field Rendering: off Framerate Resample/IFR: off Quality: Draft Scaling: point sample Field Handling: off Field Rendering: off Framerate Resample/IFR: off Translation: Best is only better than good if you are scaling your video. If you don't scale video or output at a different resolution then Best will simply take longer to render. Good and Best will de-interlace, preview and draft won't. Good and best use original footage whereas preview and draft will use proxys if available (this may be a Pro only feature) I leave mine on Preview most of the time.
