Media Generated Text not showing

Postby BuddyB » Tue Oct 08, 2013 8:40 pm

I presume I must be doing something wrong. I have 3 Media generated text blocks. I've placed them on a separate time line, but when I play the video they do not show up in the preview. I'm curious as to what will make them show. I want to do a quick fade in and fade out. Any thoughts appreciated. I'm trying to use these as credits over events.

What do you mean by "I've placed them on a separate timeline", Buddy? Do you mean that they're all on separate video tracks?

Can you post a screen capture of your timeline with the playhead positioned over one of these clips?

Your specs don't list it, but I assume you've got a decent ATI or nVidia graphics card. Some of the higher-end titlers (like the NewBlue 3D titler) require a certain level of graphics and, if you don't have it, the titles won't show.

They are all on the same track. 1. Basic Video 2. Audio 3. Music 4. Media generated text
For whatever the reason the text does not appear in the preview, so I gotta' be doing something wrong.

I put my media generated text on a track above the video timeline and it shows in preview.

As I said, if you can post a screen capture of your timeline to this forum, I can better see what's going on.

Also, what is your computer's graphics card?

When you're replying to the post, look below the "Preview/Submit" buttons and you'll see tabs:

Simply select "Upload attachment", browse to the file on your hard drive, then select "Add the file"; and it will place it in the reply (with options).

The Print Screen didn't capture the background, but you can see the Media generated tex on line 4.

Ouch! How did you do your screen capture, Buddy? Did you press the Print Scrn button on your keyboard and then paste the image into Photoshop Elements and save it as a JPEG?

I did Screen Capture, pasted it into XaraX and saved as JPG. I don't normally have any issues though. Just for the heck of it I'm gonna' paste it into Ps just to see if there's a difference. I can't believe I ate the whole thing. It pasted into Ps just fine, now I have to go to Xara and find out why. I've never had that problem before.

As you can see I moved the Media generated text to the timeline above the base video track, and that resolved the issue.

I apologize for putting that monstrosity up and wasting space.

It is Steve thanks. I was surprised that it was necessary to put on top of the video line.

Think of the tracks as a deck of cards, you look at them from the top down. You can see the top card and if I make parts of it transparent I could see the next card down too. That can go on for all 52 cards/tracks, but the one on top you will always see, whether there are 52 tracks or only 3.

Unless the media on a track contains some kind of transparency you cannot see anything below it. That helped me understand better when I first started to learn editing and how the video tracks work :)
