Disk not read

Postby curt y » Wed Mar 30, 2011 11:17 am

I completed my DVD disk and it looks pretty good, thanks to all that helped me complete my first project.

Now the commercial disk duplicator says that for some unknown reason they can not read the disk. Seems strange to me as it worked on a Win and Mac computer and the DVD unit hooked up the the TV.

I recorded at 8X on an HP DVD+R disk with an external HP burner. They said I need to use a DVD-R disk.

Is this an excuse or valid? What other steps do I need to follow for best results?

Thanks

Data-wise, there is absolutely no difference between a DVD-R and a DVD+R, so I'd suspect they don't know what they're talking about. Unless, of course, they have a DVD drive that's only capable of playing DVD-R discs, in which case they're right -- but only because they're a poorly equipped DVD dupe house.

At the very least, they should be able to pull the VIDEO_TS folder off the disc and create their own master DVD.

But, if it were me, I'd say be concerned about their competence. Is there another shop that can do your duplication?
