Picture compilation in DVDAS 5.0

Postby AllieB » Sat Mar 26, 2011 3:04 pm

Hello,

I am a newbie but bought Steve´s book and I was able to build the menu I wanted.

There is one thing I am worried about and that´s that besides the video I put a picturecompilation to the project. There are more than 99 pictures in te compillation and now the first 99 have a different chapter marker than the last one although I can play the whole thing.

Doing I something wrong?

Thanks a lot, your help will be very appreciated and axcuses for my bad English I am a Dutch living in Portugal.

Hi, Allie. Welcome! Glad the book has been helpful.

I'm not quite sure what you're telling me about your Compilation though.

Can you post a screen capture of what's going on?

You can "take a picture" of your screen by pressing the Print Screen button on your keyboard and then pasting this image into a program like Photoshop Elements. You can then save this image as JPEG and attach it to your next post by clicking the button below the text area in the Full Editor for your reply on this forum.

Thanks Steve for our quick reply.

I send you two screenshots, the first one from the complete DVDAS-screen. In the corner riht-below is the picturecompilation. As you can see change the orange chapter markers at a certain poit into green. That is after 99 pictures.

The second screenshot is made during the preview of that picture-compilation and shows the the corner with Titel (7) and chapter. The chapter number keeps hanging at 99.

I made the picture compilation according to your book (Chapter 8) the only things I changed was the plyaing time wgich I made equal to the music.

As said before during the preview it seems to work fine, except the chapter numbers, but does that also after compiling the DVD.

Thanks in advance,

Allie.

This is very helpful, Allie!

I'd suspect you've just maxed out the number of Scene/Chapter Markers you can use on a single timeline. And I do believe 99 sounds like the maximum number you can have.

If that's the case, I'm curious -- what happens to the rest of the timeline? If you create a Scene Selection Menu, does the program just ignore those green markers?

Yes Steve, the scene selection stops indeed with picture 99 thuds they will be completely ignored.

I think that will not be a real problem in my case because the photos shall only support the earlier videos.

Sorry for type-errors, I meant that the number over 99 will be iginored in the scene selection menu.

Hello Steve,

Today I burned a disc with the project as designed, thus including the picturecompilation above 99 pictures, and so far it gives me no problems. Burned with DVSAS 5.0 btw.

In my case I don´t need the chapter markers in the compilation as they are designed to show all as a kind of support to the videos in the project.

I looked the disc in Nero´s showtime and no problems popped up; the only thing I remarked was that after reaching the 99-mark the chapter adding stops but without giving any problems to the actual presentation.

So my conclusion for the moment is that it is impossible to create bigger compilations than 99 pictures as you need to addres them directly, but otherwise, as in my case, no practical problems arise.

Do you agree with this conclusion after all?

Thanks a lot for looking after this,

AllieB

Thanks for the report, Allie! That's kind of what I was hoping to hear.

Glad your project turned out exactly as you'd hoped!
