Is is possible to have 5 charts on tabs so you can look as long as you want, then click on next one in series?
If not how do you set it up to view a pic. or chart for as long as you want. Then you would have to click on something. Another button to refer back to sub menu?

It sounds like you are trying to do more of a slideshow than a movie Curt. That is a whole different animal really. But what about pushing the pause button?

Well yes, part of the DVD is charts and graphs. This DVD will have wide distribution, and many users of different levels. I assume that if a chart is to run 10 seconds, some will get the data, and others need 30 seconds. But if the chart was set for 10 sec. it would hit the end and then jump back to the sub menu. Then the user would have to select again until he got it.
Therefore would like the chart to stay on screen until one clicked next or go back to sub menu.

You could display the charts/pics as backgrounds on menus. The menu will stay on the screen until the user presses the "next" or "previous" buttons. I guess it would depend on how many charts there are. There's a limit to how many menus you can have for one title, and I forget what that number is.

I think most users will be frustrated with trying to use the pause button. So if I want to do a slide show how it that set up? Will the slide stay there until you hit next? Have less than 10 slides.

Slides in a Picture Compilation are timed, Curt. You can't make the program pause on each one until the viewer clips a button.
However, as Robert says, you can create a series of menu pages that look like slides and act like slides and can be navigated through one at a time. (Great plan, Robert!)

There are slideshow programs that will allow you to use the remote to move through the images. You can also use Microsoft Powerpoint. A video editing program is not really the way to go for what you are trying to do. You can try Robert's suggestion and that may work for you, but the user is still navigating the menu and I think that will be more confusing than pressing the pause button. Overall I think you really need a different solution, maybe Camtasia or Captivate.

Roxio Easy Media Creator has or had that capability.

If I use Powerpoint or some such program for the slides, then that is separate from putting it on the DVD with Sony Architect, right? If so not an option as I have a mix.

You can have a video or you can have a slideshow/presentation, but you can't have both as far as I know. At least you can't do it with Premiere Elements that's for sure.
